This is the Santa with the bottom plate
removed. There are 7 screws holding the bottom on, one in the center and 6
around the edge.
There are a number of hack possible from
here. Including: rewiring the on button so it plays continuously or semi continuously,
sending aux. audio to the speaker while the prop still dances and turns his head
and moves his lips (not in sync with the aux. audio), and others I have not
tried yet.
 |
Here you see the main board and below it
are the inputs for the mic and aux and the volume control (bottom right
with 3 wires).
At the top you see the infrared detector
and just below it the switch (button) to activate the prop. |
 |
Here's a close-up of the board. Note the
white wire tied in a knot just below the board.
These wires go up the prop to the motors
and the speaker.
To the left of the board (level with the
top of the board) is the aux. input. Sort of a silver square with black
wires running to it, |
 |
The ORANGE and YELLOW wires go to the
speaker in the props chest. I worked the knot tighter to get some slack
and then cut these two wires. (Shown here with a red and black clip on
them during testing.) |
 |
Here (sorry it's blurry) I've attached
the other end of the clips to the aux. input (top left) |
 |
Close up of the Aux. input with a red
and black clip in place.

 |
Here I've replaced the clips and
soldered a white and gray wire to the speaker leads. |
 |
Here I've soldered the other end of
those wires to the Aux. input. This completes the hack of having the aux.
audio play from the chest speaker and still has the prop dance. The prop
will move the audio to aux. just by changing the switch, but he will not
dance in that state.
Note the lips are NOT synced with the
aux input with this hack. |
