Since 1999 haunters have sent their pix or video to create a home haunters video. It was originally done on a single video tape that was pasted from haunter to haunter to all us all to see what others were doing, then haunters wanted a copy of their own and the set moved from tape to CD to DVD.

You can be a part of the 2007 DVD by sending me your video or pictures. You can do an electronic file transfer to my server, send your file via email, use bigfile.com or snail mail me a tape, CD or DVD. I will edit your file and add it to the DVD Set.

All Haunters are invited to submit material from anywhere in the world. I would like to extend a special invitation to haunters in Germany and other parts of the world to submit material.

There is no cost to submit your material. In fact those that submit material will receive a 25% discount on the DVD set if they decide to purchase a copy. In 2006 that reduced the cost of the 6 DVD set to only $15. No purchase is required. You can submit material and buy nothing!

Detail on how to submit your video or pix for the 2007 DVD set. Please submit the highest quality possible as these DVD's will not be watched in little windows on YouTube, but on large TV screens.

MPEG2 is the best format (DVD's are MPEG2 files) but I can transfer from just about any format you send me including .avi, .mov, and even .wmv if needed. If possible resolution should be 640X480 or higher and the frame rate should be 29.97fps. Windows Movie Maker has an option to say to your computer as DVD quality which is 720X480. Please do not select wide screen or HD. Next year we may have an HD disk as the format is becoming more popular. I can edit and publish in HD with my equipment. (You may submit in wide screen format however I believe that Studio will not allow both wide screen and standard format to be placed on the same project (DVD). If I do not receive enough wide screen haunts to create a full (or near full) wide screen disc, I will convert your wide screen to letterbox and include it as letterbox format on the standard DVD.

The Halloween FTP site has been created. You cannot rename a folder on the server (for security reasons), so create a folder on your desktop, name it after you or your haunt, place your video or pix in this folder, copy (cut & paste) this folder onto the server after you log in. You should be able to just drag and drop the folder from your desktop to the server.

Alternatively, users can enter the following information into an FTP client application, such as SmartFTP ( download free from http://smartftp.com/ ), and upload files that way:

Directions for Windows Vista users:

Okay, I just tried it in Vista and it is almost the same as Windows XP. Click the Page menu/button in the toolbar, then click on Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer . Enter halloween as both the username and the password. Now it is just like a regular folder.

The people uploading videos should really use an FTP client, such as SmartFTP. It will let you resume a broken upload; Windows will not. The video files are so big that some people may have trouble uploading them and the ability to resume instead of having to start the transfer over is always nice.
